About ꩜
My keywords guide me through life, through exploration of things that I need, how I socialise, how I move. Space, flow, balance, connection. We all need those, in all aspects of our existence.
I’m here to guide you, to help you find yourself and the poetry of your body, through movement or knowledge, at work or at home, with physical practice or listening - but always for the benefit of yourself.
I teach yoga through a lens of embodied flow and Qigong principles, using anatomy understanding with a sprinkling of philosophy, so it’s not all about asana…
People get much more from my sessions, and they’re all about alignment - of both body and mind.
About me…
My love of movement comes initially from my father - who was born in the Indus Valley area known as the home of yoga. He always insisted that I move, spend time outdoors, and never take chemical medication unless I absolutely had to. I did my first yoga class at a gym in Liverpool 25 years ago after dislocating my spine in an accident, and came away with an unexplainable invigorated feeling - my energy moved, more than it had in martial arts and dance. Fast forward a few years and I became more interested in the depths of yoga beyond physical fitness - the psychological benefits of embodiment, neurology, and Qigong (energy movement). I started to explore different styles of yoga, as well as learning about yoga as the lifestyle my father had always directed; its rich history, its philosophy, its importance in self discovery and emotional health.
I’m an absolute anatomy geek, with an obsession of researching every physical scenario I encounter, and marrying that with philosophical teachings to find correlations. My knowledge on the body is continuously and enthusiastically developed, as is my love of history through Tantric philosophy and practice. I love the nervous system, fascia, how our muscles and bones function and are structured, how this all works in different situations and different bodies; trauma release, work-based tension, postural conditioning, hyper-mobility, and more.
My perspective on overcoming injury or illness is through knowledge.
The practices I use are simply our tools to explore our existence in the bigger context of life; functionality, playfulness, strength, intuition, rest, and more. Working with cycles in this way makes sure that we use Yin and Yang energy, creating balance rather than forcing or being too stagnant, as well as keeping the brain steadily stimulated rather than stressed - and I always encourage using intuition…
